About Siem Reap Angkor International Airport:
The new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) opened in October 2023 after 3 years of construction, replacing the former Siem Reap International Airport (REP). The old airport was located less than 10km/6mi from Siem Reap city center, while the new airport is located around 45km/28mi east of the center of Siem Reap. As the Cambodian ministry of tourism expects a rising number of visitors, the new airport is designed to handle up to 1 Million passengers monthly, which is almost double compared to the old airport which open in the 1930s.
Important to know:
The old Siem Reap International Airport can still be found on Google Maps as a monument causing some confusion among tourists when planning their airport transfer. This also leads to an uncertainty about the pricing as some websites and guide books still list the prices for the old airport, raising concerns of overpaying when they see the old rates of 20-25 USD per vehicle.
Bus Shuttle:
An alternative option is the airport bus shuttle, operating between CDF Angkor Duty Free Store in the city center and the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport passenger terminal.
Airport of Angkor Wat:
Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) is the gateway to the unique world heritage site of Angkor Archaeological Park, also known as Angkor Wat, which is actually the most famous monument of Angkor Park. One of the remote and hidden temples of Angkor Park, the Jungle Lotus Temple Beng Melea is in the same direction as the new airport, making it a great option to combine it with your transfer on the day of arrival or departure.

About Phnom Penh International Airport:
Phnom Penh International Airport was built in the 1930s and has a capacity of up to 7 Million passengers. It has a renovated terminal with separate international and domestic areas. The new international airport is currently under construction and expected to start operations in 2025. It is located around 15km/9mi out of the city center but it can take around 40 minutes due to high traffic. PNH is a smaller airport with only 10 gates. This makes it easy for passengers to navigate through the international and domestic terminal.
Bus Shuttle:
Phnom Penh offers a shuttle bus service. Line number 3 goes to/from the passenger terminal passing through Russian boulevard, 7 Makara bridge, Kampuchea Krom boulevard, Phasar Thmey Market, and then south to Norodom boulevard, ending at the Night Market on street 106.
Things to see in Phnom Penh:
Some of the most important sights are Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda, the National Museum of Cambodia, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) & Choeung Ek Killing Fields, Central Market (Psar Thmei) & Russian Market (Psar Tuol Tom Pong), the Independence Monument, Wat Phnom temple - famous for beautiful sunsets on the hill & Wat Ounalom - oldest Buddhist foundation in Phnom Penh, located close to Sisowath Quay.
